Matta Rice commonly known as Matta Rice, also known as Rosematta rice, Palakkadan Matta rice, Kerala Red rice or Red Parboiled rice, is locally sourced from the Palakkad region of Kerala, India. It is an indigenous variety from the Western Ghasts.Â
Matta Rice is also a great source of magnesium. Magnesium is an important macro-mineral required daily for good health. - Thoroughly rinse 1 cup of Matta Rice and soak it for 30 - 50 minutes in lukewarm water.
- Add the soaked rice to 6 cups of boiling water
- Add 1 tablespoon of butter or oil and salt to taste
- Allow it to boil properly by stirring in between
- Wait for 5 - 10 minutes and drain the excess water
- Serve Hot
